I grew up in the country, Some refer to me as the country bumpkin, I just like to think I’m a redneck with style, a good ol’country hick!!
I grew up knowing about God and regularly attended our local church from a young age. I was then confirmed and joined as a member. I was not aware of what it was to have a personal relationship with God and what it was to fully trust in Him and the plans He has for our lives.
I walked away from God at the young age of 13/14. In 1998 I was presented with my first big trial. At this time I did not know it was a way God was trying to reach my family, and because I did not have a strong bond to Him I really suffered and was a very lost soul for many years to come.
Once I started attending Harvest Bible Chapel of London my eyes were opened and my heart was softened. I started coming occasionally in 2006 and the began regularly in 2007. God was
(and still is)
working in this church and I could really sense it! I had just gone through the biggest trial of my life, I needed to hear the words God was speaking in each sermon. After this 2nd trial of great pain, I knew God was really trying to reach me this time. He was holding my hand and drawing me near. Through many Sunday sermons of tears, many nights of prayer and turning to the bible; I gave my life to Christ. God has really shown me how to trust Him and He has taught me all about relationships with Him and others. God has changed my life for the better, put me on a 180 spin and shown me that He has plans that I can trust and I can faithfully follow Him and know I will be taken care of.
Harvest Bible Chapel has been a huge influence in my Life with Christ and I am so excited to see the growth of the Church and where God will take us next. May we continue to grow through the Lord’s will and may we lift His name high and glorify Him in all that we do.
And now for some trivia about Ashley
Quick take:
Quick... take what?? I feel like someone is asking me to take something and run far away with it!!!
Born:
Brampton ON, in the 1980’s whoooot! But did not live there for long - after 3yrs of living in Georgetown ON, I luckily moved to the place I like to call “the sticks” ooor redneck country! (ahh how I miss the dirt roads)
Little-known facts about me:
I stand 4’11” tall and I actually use to be pretty good at high jump (I KNOW weird huh)… I can wear kids shoes
(and usually do!)
Oh and I am an avid Fisher (pole and tackle live in the trunk of my car, you never know when you might find a good fishing spot!) Just because I am avid doesn’t mean I am good!
I hope heaven includes:
My entire Family (still praying), and ICE COLD CREAMY MILK….
Things I do not want to live without:
God, My Family, Milk, hugs, pajama pants and a really comfortable bed! (also my sister’s cheesecake)
Hope to someday hear:
Will you Marry me??!! (Does that count?)
Most embarrassing moment:
running face first into a sliding screen door and flying backwards (literally bouncing many feet backwards like a face plant on a trampoline) onto the deck after I did a skit at a family reunion! And I thought the skit in a colourful crinoline tutu was so embarrassing… then that happened! Gotta love all of the laughs I got from my supportive family…mm-hmmmm…
Most Exciting Moment/Trip:
Moment
- hearing I was going to be an Auntie!
Trips
- Skydiving in 2010 from 8000feet! A 25second free fall of 4000feet followed by a 4000foot parachute decent! *AAAAH-Mazing!* Next on the list would be my Moose Hunting trip of 2009 and when I volunteered in Thailand for 32days in 2005!
Best childhood memory:
not sure if it is my favourite or best… but playing house with my sister in Bailey’s house… that’s right my dogs house was big enough to play in… with chairs and everything - Talk about sweet… it even had HEAT! We rock it in the country (it might have something to do with all the cold winters)!!
Passion:
Overseas missions and helping people! To serve my Holy Father and Glorify His name in all I do. Being with my Family and loving my cutie-patootie nephews to bits!!!
My family:
My parents (Jim and Kerry) who live 5.5hrs away in the boondocks (Yah SHARBOT LAKE!! Where you say…??) My sister and her husband (Kristen and Josh Morrison) and my favourite little men of ALL TIME: My Nephews David and Seth!! Can’t forget my parents ever faithful and loving puppy Buster!
My education:
I attended a dirt road poison Ivey league, with campfires guitars and river scenes…. My country club is exclusive to none but a fishing pole will come in handy. I’m a Genuine, Certified Dirt Road Scholar.
All kidding aside:
2yrs in Health Science @UWO
Geriatric Assessment and Forensic Psychology courses from Fanshawe College
and the rest comes from reading the Bible!
High:
Giving my Life to Christ
Low:
Knowing that others still have not learned of God’s strength and the truth in Him, and that they have not accepted Him into their hearts and lives.
Purpose:
To live fully for Christ my saviour, and make people smile :o)
