WITNESSING QUICK TIPS
Jesus commanded all of His followers to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). Here are three field-tested "quick tips" for witnessing to the loved ones that God has placed in your life:
1. Be a praying witness
Consistently commit the salvation of your loved ones to the Lord through personal prayer and small group prayer.
2. Be a bold witness in talk.
As fellow Christ-followers, we must hold each other accountable to confront our loved ones with the Gospel at least once.
Preparing your “Gospel Testimonial”
You can use your “Gospel Testimonial” when sharing Christ with loved ones. This is a Gospel-focused story of your personal journey towards repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
Here is a basic outline for preparing your “Gospel Testimonial”:
Before (1 minute): What was your life like before you were saved?
Turning Point (1 minute): How did God reconcile you to Himself?
Key points of the Gospel to share:
• God alone is holy, just, and good – Ps. 89:14
• The wages of sin is death (Ten Commandments) – 1 Jn. 3:4
• God is rich in mercy to all that call upon Him – Eph. 2:4
• Eternal Life is in Jesus Christ (The Gospel) – Jn. 3:16; 1 Cor. 15:1-11
• Repentance and Faith (Acts 2:38; Eph. 2:8-9)
After (1 minute): How has your life changed since you’ve been saved?
Breaking the Ice
One of the most disarming ways to invite your loved ones to hear your Gospel Testimonial is by asking them the “Crazy Christian Question”. This simply involves saying: “you must think it’s crazy that I am a Christian! If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the number one reason that you think I would do such a thing?” This will instantly allow them a safe place to begin a series of guesses until they invite you to share the number one reason that you are a Christian, which is to be eternally reconciled to God the Father through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
Ways to Share Your Faith
The most relational suggestions for sharing your Gospel Testimonial with family and friends are one-to-one or with a handwritten letter.
3. Be a good works witness.
After we take the time to continually pray for our loved ones and sow the seed of the Gospel, we can then begin to water the seed through God-glorifying good works. Remember: Your responsibility when witnessing to loved ones is faithfulness and obedience to sow and water the seed! The qualities are in the seed NOT the sower and, thankfully, the salvation of our loved ones is in the hands of our Sovereign God.
