Currently we have raised about $120,000 in the growth fund. Some of that was some of what we had saved as a church and reallocated
to this fund and the rest has been given by Harvest people.
(2011 update - The previous statements were made in
2008. By God's grace we now have close to $1.5M and have not yet done a
building campaign).
Here is the thing. Our Elders are committed to see the primary
funding for the ministry of Harvest Bible Chapel London come from the
faithful donations of the people of Harvest London. This we believe
is Biblical and right, so we won’t get into fund raising endeavors.
Not that there is something wrong with these but we think it wisest
for us to have the people of Harvest giving their time to advance the
ministry not fund raise. We believe that if each person and family
at Harvest would sacrificially make a donation above and beyond their
regular offering we would have sufficient funds to buy land as well
as build our building – all paid for completely.
Raising this kind of money does feel overwhelming to many of us and
apart from God’s provision it is. But if we look at it a key
idea is for everyone to participate. At Harvest London we are
averaging over 400 in attendance these days (2011 update - over 900 - praise God!) and we will likely need about $7-8 million to complete our needed facility.
Is this a huge stretch for all of us? Absolutely!!
But God is faithful that as we give generously and sacrificially to
Him to advance His kingdom He will give back in amazing and wonderful
ways.
Jesus Himself taught in Luke 6, “give, and it will be given to you.
Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put
into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back
to you.”
We believe God will provide through His people so please pray with us to this end and please ask God what He would have you sacrifice and give for this need.
