Home - Plugging In - News - Peace in the Storm
Tuesday night or rather Wednesday morning I was awake at 2
A.M. sitting on my couch with a feeling of total peace and contentment washing
over me as I watched the flurries of the storm sweep past my house. The wind
howled; the snow flew; the roads lay empty. Sometimes God shouts His love to
us. He knows what each of us needs. He showed me in that beautiful storm that
no matter what kind of storm swirls around us, that if we are in Him, we sit at
total peace in the midst of the storm.
Sometimes my storms are on the outside of me wrapped in
circumstances beyond my control. Sometimes my storms are on the inside of me
wrapped up in the sin I sink into so quickly. Sometimes my storms are even
imaginary as I try to do my life in my own strength forgetting God has promised
over and over to be my strength for me.
I wait with impatience for the perfect set of circumstances
to come my way. The perfect teaching system to raise my children in, is it
public, private, or home schooling?
I wait for the perfect Christian ministry to fall into my lap. Lord, if
it were truly Your Will to be a part of this ministry, then surely it wouldn’t
be so difficult to do, it wouldn’t come with theses sets of problems?? It
wouldn’t require me to get up at this hour?? The bizarre thing is that I don’t
say these things out loud to myself, they come as an unsettling restlessness
that I’ve been struggling for with for a while. It was just watching the storm
and feeling the peace that I realized I didn’t have lately. Just as clearly I
realized whatever the problem was, the circumstance was, it didn’t matter.
Be still and KNOW that I am God.
The greater the storm, the greater God gets glory through
the peace that shows up in our lives that passes understanding.
May God meet you in your storm.
2Thessalonians
3:16 “ May the Lord of Peace Himself always give you His peace no matter what
happens. The Lord be with you all.”
